Today I am going to continue with poker terms you would benefit from learning when you use
money poker sites. You will recall that I was going through the alphabet and I had left off at E.
For both cash and MTT poker on
Ultimate Bet for Mac, it is important to know about “effective stacks”. If two people are in a pot together, they can only wager up to the amount that the shorter stack has, also known as the effective stack. If Mike has 1,400 chips and Anna has 5,000, the effective stack is 1,400.
The next phrase I will tell you about is “flip”, a suggestion that might come if you play a friendly cash game on a
Lucky Ace Poker download. Basically the players involved in a flip agree to go all-in preflop with whichever cards are dealt to them. A flip can also be used to describe a 50/50 situation, usually when players are all-in preflop. For instance, if you sit at a cash table and you push your chips in with AJ and get called by TT, this is referred to as a flip since you take down the pot around 50% of the time.
I wanted to review the term “gutshot” next. When you are drawing to a straight with 4 outs, it is known as a gutshot straight draw. For instance, if you take a break from
Craps online and get dealt 78 in a ring game, you might feel frisky and decide to play it. You call a raise and you get A46 on the flop. Your draw is a gutshot since there is only one card that can come to make your hand, which is four outs. This is also known as an inside straight draw.
“Hero fold” is my H phrase. It is a hero fold when you reluctantly lay down a strong hand. Perhaps you are in a cash game on your
Everest Poker download and get into a hand with a player that hasn’t raised once over a huge sample size. You receive 23s blind versus blind and flop a flush, but when you bet, your opponent raises! Choosing to fold this hand after one raise is definitely a case of a hero fold. At first these hands will seem unfair, but unlike many other games, poker requires hard thinking and sometimes big laydowns are necessary.
That is my last term for this entry, but I will start off with the letter "I" when I come back in November. In the meantime, be sure to play lots of hands and get lots of practice.
